A run of the mill slasher movie. Set in the middle of nowhere (standard) a family are stalked in their parents (huge) family home.

The film sees a large family meeting for the weekend, with new partners being introduced to the family. We meet one son and his girlfriend first who arrive the night before the rest of the party. Before they arrive the mother hears a noise upstairs and is convinced that there is someone upstairs. The father goes to investigate… and of course he finds nothing.

The son, Crispin, played by AJ Bowen then arrives with his new girlfriend, Erin, played by Home & Aways Sharni Vinson and all is forgotten. We learn that the family are not short of a penny or two, and an uneventful night follows.

The next day the rest of the family arrive, and we meet another two sons, their partners and a daughter and her partner. Then they all sit down to dinner and the real fun begins….

From here on in, it is typical stalked/slasher movie as the family are picked off one by one. The action is fairly standard, although in some parts it is a little overly gruesome and becomes slightly comical. But perhaps that is because there is a vein of humour already running through the production, with the sibling bickering and rivalry.

Is there a twist? Two actually… do they come running out of nowhere, slap you in the face and leave you thinking “wow”? No. But regardless it is a an enjoyable enough movie, which fuses horror and comedy in away that makes you unsure if you should be laughing.

Interestingly enough this movie was first released at the Toronto Film Festival back in 2011. With general release only happening this year in Europe.
